When selecting a radar level gauge, the following points should be taken into consideration; they apply to the selection of all radar level gauges. 1. The type of medium being measured, liquid or solid. If it is a liquid: Is there steam, fog, foam, waves, stirring, or floating particles on the surface? ; If it is a solid: is there dust? 2. The minimum to maximum temperature, and minimum to maximum pressure of the medium. 3. Corrosivity of the medium: If it is stored in a tank, the radar level gauge needs to know the material of the tank and whether it has an anti-corrosion lining. 4. Does a high-frequency radar level gauge require explosion protection and corrosion resistance? 5. What is the measurement range in meters, and what is the required blind zone? 6. Connection method: flange connection, threaded connection. 7. Working environment: For example, open tanks, tanks with lids, horizontal tanks, vertical tanks, spherical tanks, and whether the tanks are at atmospheric pressure or not. 8. Operating voltage: 24VDC. 9. Output signal: 4–20mA current. The proper selection of radar level gauges, taking into account the specific operating conditions, can help prevent over 90% of product failures. The operating environment in which level gauge products are used varies from project to project; therefore, a detailed and careful selection is necessary, considering factors such as the product’s structural features, the liquid being measured, the measurement range, temperature, pressure, density, and so on. Only through accurate selection can we ensure that the products offer better cost-performance, a longer service life, and precise and reliable measurement data.
