Following the safety life cycle outlined in IEC61508/IEC61511, this book focuses on the application of SIS in the process industry, providing a comprehensive explanation of the concepts and requirements of these functional safety standards to guide the practical implementation of SIS. The book is divided into 11 chapters in total.
Chapter 1 provides a general introduction to some of the key concepts discussed throughout the book. Chapter 2 introduces the representative functional safety standards used in SIS applications in the process industry； Chapters 3–6. Focusing on the activities at various stages of the SIS security lifecycle, it covers hazard and risk analysis, security layers, as well as the identification of SIS and the engineering design of SIS ； Chapter 7 introduces the core subsystem of SIS – the Logic Controller ； Chapter 8 covers the on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance of SIS; Chapter 9 discusses typical applications of SIS; Chapter 10 provides a more in-depth exploration of typical issues in IEC61508/IEC61511 applications ； Chapter 11 introduces the key points of IEC62061 and IEC61513.
