A fusible plug should be able to be installed on the cylinder used in the actuator of pneumatic emergency shut-off valves. The melting point of this fusible plug should be around 250°C; when the temperature of the cylinder reaches or exceeds this melting point, the plug melts and releases the pressure inside the cylinder, allowing the spring on the other side of the cylinder or the compressed air in the air reservoir to push the piston and close the valve”
The designed temperature for a fuse plug is usually 100°C, but at that point the O-rings in the cylinder have already been damaged, so this setting is meaningless; therefore, the minimum appropriate temperature for a fuse plug is 200 degrees Celsius.
