After being in use for a period of time, radar level gauges need to be serviced in order to ensure that no faults occur when they are used in the future. So, what should we pay attention to when maintaining radar level gauges? First, when testing radar level gauges, we must not forget to perform the measurement while the device is powered on; otherwise, our measurements would be meaningless. During live measurement, the main thing to check is whether the current output of the radar level gauge is normal. Second, when using devices such as logic probes or waveform displays to detect signals from radar level gauges, we need to bring different probes into contact with the measurement pins of the radar level gauge at the same time, in order to check whether a short circuit will occur. Third, when checking the filtering capacitor of a radar level gauge, we need to short-circuit the positive and negative terminals of the electrolytic capacitor first, but we must not discharge it, as this could lead to errors in measurements as well as damage to the internal wires. Fourth, if a radar level gauge is used in a humid environment, it is very likely to cause malfunctions in the gauge. We need to check each printed circuit of the radar level gauge to see if it is unobstructed. Fifth, when testing the internal circuit of a radar level gauge, if the surfaces of the components are coated with insulating paint, one can use ordinary hand-sewn wires to connect them to the probes of a multimeter, thereby enabling testing of those components. Sixth, when testing radar level gauges, do not remove the control board or plug of the radar level gauge while it is still powered on; this can cause excessive back voltage that may damage the control board and plug of the radar level gauge.
