The wavelength of a 2.26GHz radar is 11 mm, while that of a 6GHz radar is 50 mm. When using radar level gauges to measure the level of bulk materials, the reflection of radar waves mainly comes from diffuse reflection from the surface of the material. The intensity of this diffuse reflection is proportional to the size of the material and inversely proportional to the wavelength. Since the diameter of most bulk materials is much smaller than 50 mm, this is why 26GHz radars are the best choice for measuring the level of such materials. 3. In applications involving small tanks with a small diameter and not very high height, the long length of 6GHz radar antennas (300–400 mm) inadvertently increases the blind zone to around 600 mm. Additionally, due to the poor directivity of 6GHz radars (large beam width), multipath reflections occur within these small tanks ; The 26GHz radar features a high frequency, short antenna, and good directivity, overcoming the shortcomings of 6GHz radars and making it suitable for measuring small containers. 4. Due to the harsh conditions at the site, over time, debris and moisture accumulate on the radar antenna. The 26GHz radar antenna is small, and an additional antenna cover can help mitigate the effects caused by debris and moisture ; 6GHz radar antennas are large, making it difficult to add radomes. Moreover, the instrument is heavy and difficult to clean. 5. Due to the good directivity of 26GHz radar, in many harsh operating conditions, the radar level gauge can be installed outside the container for measurement by means of simple isolation. The operating conditions in the metallurgical industry are quite complex, and each process has different requirements for level measurement: it is necessary to measure the properties of the medium at the same time ; Measure the temperature and pressure of the medium ; Explosion protection, protection rating ; Measure whether there is dust, vapor, and foam in the environment ; The geometric dimensions and installation locations of containers, tanks, silos, and storage areas all impose different requirements on the instruments to be used. Stainless steel horn with PTFE-covered antenna, suitable for environments with volatile substances and dust. 3. The full-lunar-shaped antenna with a PTFE cover is suitable for environments with volatiles, dust, and condensation. 4. The stainless-steel horn-type cleaning antenna uses compressed air as the cleaning medium, making it suitable for situations where the antenna is severely contaminated. 5.
