Let’s give praise and support to the achievements made in China’s chemical technology and equipment sector; your participation in discussions is the greatest encouragement. **********************【Ten Years of Progress in Chemical Equipment】A continuously updated summary post – feel free to join the discussions: https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-3576046-1-1.html ***************** Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40 million tons per year integrated refining and chemical processing project, located on Yushan Island in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, is the largest of its kind in the world. It has now been fully built and put into operation. Developed jointly by Rongsheng Group and other parties, this project covers a total planned area of 41 square kilometers and is China’s first \"offshore\" petrochemical complex. By 2025, the crude oil processing volume had exceeded 152 million tons, while the annual production capacities for PX (p-xylene) and ethylene reached 8.8 million tons and 4.2 million tons respectively. This has created a complete industrial chain that spans from crude oil processing to derivative production and advanced chemical manufacturing, providing important support for the high-end and sustainable development of China’s petrochemical industry. This project adopts a new enterprise intelligent operation architecture driven by industrial AI using the “1+2+N” central control technology; its control system features 770,000 I/O points, setting a record in the industry. This system covers various fields such as control, instrumentation, and industrial software. It not only enables the efficient operation of the world’s largest ABS plant with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year, as well as China’s largest slurry-bed residue hydrogenation plant with a capacity of 3 million tons per year, but also brings significant improvements to the overall operation of the project: the automatic control rate for Units 1 and 2 for producing ethylene glycol exceeds 99%, while their comprehensive energy consumption is reduced by 1.4% and 1.99% respectively ; The number of alarms dropped from 740,000 per week to around 2,000, resulting in a significant improvement in production stability. The stability of the control systems developed by Zhongkong Technology has been highly recognized. Wei Gaosheng, deputy general manager of the Instrument Control Center at Zhejiang Petrochemical, said, “Zhongkong Technology’s control systems exhibit excellent stability, strong service response capabilities, and the ability to adapt to local deployment requirements. In particular, they demonstrate practical value and a high level of engineering maturity in areas such as industrial AI control, instrument management, and alarm management.” ”In this project, control valve, transmitter and other instrumentation products from Zhongkong Technology, as well as industrial information security solutions, were also fully utilized to establish a complete system ranging from intelligent control to industrial control security. This project was also selected as a \"Typical Case of Industrial Data Security in 2023\" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Leveraging the “AI + mechanism” model, the project achieved significant results in polyolefin high-density ethylene plants: a 30.17% reduction in product quality fluctuations, a 20.35% shortening of the time required for changing product grades, and an increase in yield of over 1.045%. Additionally, it resulted in a 45% reduction in product quality fluctuations and a 32.7% reduction in the time needed to switch product grades. Going forward, Zhejiang Petrochemical will rely more on AI technology to gradually expand the application of AI and big data technologies in areas such as plant analysis and optimization, safety maintenance, and efficiency improvement. In particular, by deploying advanced products like the UCS universal control system Nyx and the SmartEIO data transmission solution, the company aims to significantly reduce production and construction costs, unlock the value of data, and contribute to driving the intelligent transformation of the petrochemical industry. The Zhejiang Petrochemical integration project has set records not only in terms of scale and the level of integration of control systems, but it also demonstrates the practical value of advanced technologies such as industrial AI in the process industry. In the future, Central Control Technology will further advance the in-depth application of capabilities such as industrial AI, process optimization, and data governance, helping to drive the petrochemical industry toward greater precision, efficiency, and safety.
