How to choose the range for a transmitter

This post was last edited by 99℃ on 2025-12-21 09:07. The normal pressure for gas pipelines is 4.5 kPa, while the manufacturer has specified a protection value of 10 kPa. I’m not sure how to choose the measurement range – should it be set such that 10 kPa falls within 1/3 to 2/3 of the range, or should it be set based on 4.5 kPa within that same range, ensuring that the protection value is also covered?

The transmitter range is easy to choose, and it can be modified. The key is to choose the right transmitter; one with a normal value of 4.5 KPa is suitable, and it’s important to select an appropriate measurement accuracy – generally, a differential pressure transmitter is used for this purpose.
1/3 to 2/3 of the range – this generally refers to field pressure gauges. There doesn’t seem to be such a term as a remote transmitter; remote transmitters are usually purchased in bulk, with fixed values, and one can simply change them to the desired value. With your current setting, an alarm is triggered at 10 KPA; please change the range to above 15.
