This RS flip-flop should serve a “holding” or “memory” function here. Simply canceling the connection might not work, because: 1. **Prevention of accidental actions**: For example, once a certain condition is triggered, that state needs to be maintained until a reset condition occurs, at which point it can be cleared. If connected directly, the signal disappears in an instant, and the interlock may not be able to function continuously. 2. **Logical self-holding**: Some interlocks require \"self-locking\"; once triggered, they maintain their interlocked state even if the original signal disappears, and can only be released by a reset signal (R terminal). 3. **Avoid frequent fluctuations**: If the signal source is unstable, direct connection will cause frequent activation and deactivation of interlocks; an RS flip-flop can filter out such fluctuations. If interlocking cannot be activated at the moment, it might be due to: – The triggering conditions not being met – The reset terminal remaining active – The logic settings of the RS flip-flop being incorrect – Or issues with the external wiring/configuration. It is necessary to check the signal states of the S and R terminals of the RS flip-flop, as well as whether its \"set priority\" or \"reset priority\" mode is suitable for the current logic. .
The RS flip-flop needs to be reset for interlock purposes; whenever any of the first four interlock conditions is met, the OR gate outputs 1. When the RS flip-flop receives this 1, it outputs 1 as well. That upper block seems to serve as a bypass mechanism – when it is in normal operation, 1 AND 1 yields 1, thereby triggering the interlock. The previous condition for RS is restored, and the reset value becomes 0.
