What are the flow rates and pressures for slurry circulation and oxygen venting during feedstock feeding in the Texaco gasifier?
A circulation pressure of 5 kilograms is sufficient for the coal slurry. The flow rate is usually set at the level corresponding to half-load operation; it should not be too high, but it must be several cubic meters higher than the interlock value for the coal slurry flow rate. A discharge pressure of around 6 kilograms for oxygen is sufficient; the oxygen-coal ratio can then be maintained at approximately 480–500. During feeding, the oxygen-coal ratio is slightly higher, which makes it easier to ignite. When feeding the material in, the load fed into the furnace should not be too high; otherwise, once ignition occurs, the pressure inside the furnace will rise too rapidly, making it easier for the low slurry flow interlock to be triggered.
