What is the minimum load at which a gasification furnace typically operates, as a percentage of its design load?
This should be determined based on the process employed, the amount of coal fed in, the slurry concentration, and the type of coal. If the multi-nozzle opposed gasification technology is used, it is not possible to use a device that is too small; therefore, the minimum load must be determined according to the process. The quenching process differs from the waste boiler process as well.
The load is too low, resulting in unstable operation; the flow rates of coal slurry and oxygen are close to the interlock values, increasing the risk of an automatic shutdown. In terms of design, the normal load is set at 50% to 110%; therefore, it is best not to reduce the furnace load below 50% of its capacity
