After the maintenance of the main mother liquor circulation pump in the ammonium sulfate process of coal chemical industry (crystals were present during the pump reversal), and after it was reversed back to its original position, the main mother liquor circulation pump failed to deliver fluid! The current fluctuates greatly and is below normal levels. The saturator is filled with water (the flow outlet is at full flow), but the inlet pipe is empty when the pump starts (determined by knocking). After the pump starts (knocking again – the sound is muffled, which suggests the presence of mother liquor), the current still fluctuates heavily and unstably. The inlet pipe becomes empty again after the pump stops (determined by the sound of knocking). Please help analyze this situation, everyone! The pump and saturator have both been checked! Urgent! ! ! (There are also problems with running the pump now.)
There is a very high possibility of the downcomer being blocked

It is preliminarily determined that the saturator was not vented after the desaturation unit, and sulfur-ammonium crystals formed at the bottom, causing blockage at the inlet of the main mother liquor pump.
When there is excessive crystallization, the pump is stopped for maintenance, which causes accumulated material to block the inlet pipe of the mother liquor circulation pump.
It might be blocked; it is recommended to install a larger mother liquor pump for the ammonium sulfate saturator. With two pumps, similar problems occur every time it is used, so it’s better to have just one pump
