Appraisal of Water-Coal Slurry Water-Cooled Wall Waste Boiler Gasifier / Author/Source: China Chemical Industry News, Date: 12-28-2017, Clicks: 16. On December 25, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation held an appraisal meeting for scientific and technological achievements regarding the “Water-Coal Slurry Water-Cooled Wall Waste Boiler Gasifier” (a gasifier that produces syngas and steam simultaneously using water-cooled wall technology) in Beijing. The appraisal committee, including several academicians and experts, agreed that this scientific and technological achievement passed the appraisal. Xie Kechang, chairman of the appraisal committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, announced on behalf of the 15 expert committee members that this gasification furnace technology features significant innovation and owns independent intellectual property rights. It enables an improvement in the system’s thermal efficiency while also increasing the versatility regarding the types of coal that can be used. It is environmentally friendly, offering clear economic and social benefits. With its excellent overall performance, this technology is at the international leading level, and the committee unanimously agreed to approve it. The evaluation committee believes that this gasifier is a single-unit gasifier in which the gasification chamber, radiant steam generator, and quenching chamber are connected and share one overall housing; it features a simple structure and low investment costs. It can produce high-quality steam, resulting in high thermal efficiency of the system. It can use feedstocks with high melting points, high sulfur content, high ash content, as well as semi-coke and petroleum coke, making it adaptable to various types of coal. The temperature of the crude syngas entering the quenching chamber is low, which reduces the amount of water needed for quenching and the circulation volume of ashwater, thus contributing to energy conservation and environmental protection. The Linyi branch of Yangmei Fengxi Group utilized this technology to build a demonstration unit for a gasifier with a capacity of 500 tons of coal per day; it was successfully commissioned on April 1, 2016, and has been operating steadily ever since. Li Guangmin, Party Secretary and Executive Director of Yangmei Fengxi, as well as Chairman of Yangmei Chemical Machinery, said that the company will follow the recommendations of the appraisal committee, uphold the spirit of craftsmanship, and accelerate the development of its products in a systematic, standardized, large-scale, integrated, information-driven, and intelligent manner across the entire value chain – from coal quality analysis to design and research and development, to manufacturing and installation, as well as after-sales service and training. The goal is to achieve combined production of syngas, steam, electricity, and heat, to produce high-quality products, and to make new contributions to the development of coal gasification in China.
