Primary cooler – electrostatic precipitator – fan – pre-cooling tower – desulfurization tower (HPF process) – single-tower desulfurization tower – saturator. There is a lot of tar in the full-flow tank of the saturator, as well as at the foam station. Please analyze the possible reasons!
How is the operation of the electric precipitator, and what are the parameters?
It is basically consistent with our process; it is important to check whether the electrostatic precipitator is operating properly. The amount of tar in the gas after the blower should be below 50 mg/m3. If this value is higher, there is likely a problem with the electrostatic precipitator – either its processing capacity is insufficient or its efficiency is low.
The electrostatic precipitator operates at 45 KV and 800–1000 mA; even when it is functioning properly, there is still a significant amount of acid tar. I’ve seen coking plants where there is no acid tar at all
The tar content measured after testing the fans was below 20 in all cases; we suspect this is caused by an overly long sampling tube!
The sampling tube can be purged with steam before sampling; this helps to keep it unobstructed and also removes any debris on the tube walls that could affect the results. Judging from the voltage and current parameters of the electrostatic tar collector, they are normal and quite good. It then depends on whether the gas treatment capacity of the electrostatic precipitator matches the actual requirements.
The tar content in the gas can be inferred from the amount of acid tar.
Acidic tar is not a big issue, as long as the color and quality of the ammonium sulfate product are normal.
The color is normal now, but a lot of manual effort is required to remove the acidic tar!
Through comparison, it was found that the operation of the electrostatic precipitator has a significant impact on this acid tar.
A high amount of tar indicates that the electrostatic precipitator is not working properly; it’s necessary to check it carefully. There isn’t much that can be done apart from collecting more acidic tar to prevent blockages
