If it’s not a quality issue, then I personally think it’s due to stress – maybe the counterweights weren’t installed properly or there’s a problem with the catalyst What is the pressure difference in your converter? It is highly likely to be stress corrosion cracking.
The lugs are located outside the furnace chamber, where the temperature is not very high. I think it’s possible that your natural gas desulfurization process is not working properly; is the sulfur content in the gas entering the conversion furnace monitored regularly?
