Launch of Yanchang Petroleum’s Project on “Key Technologies for Co-hydrogenation of Coal and Heavy Oil and Product Processing” Author/Source: Yaha Coal Chemical Industry Date: November 5, 2018 Clicks: 28 On October 31, the launch meeting and feasibility review session for the **key research and development project “Key Technologies for Co-hydrogenation of Coal and Heavy Oil and Product Processing”, led by Yanchang Petroleum, was successfully held in Xi’an, and it passed the feasibility assessment organized by the High-Tech Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology. This project is led by the group company, with the participation of 13 organizations including the Coal Science and Technology Research Institute, East China University of Science and Technology, Northwest University, as well as other universities, research institutes, and enterprises. The project comprises 5 sub-projects, with a total funding amount of 67.83 million yuan, of which 17.83 million yuan comes from special funds provided by the central government. This project aims to achieve efficient and synergistic conversion of coal and heavy oil, providing new technical approaches for clean and efficient coal conversion as well as the upgrading of heavy and low-quality oils into lighter fractions, thereby supporting technological upgrades for enterprises and the development of the industry. This demonstration meeting was organized by the High-Tech Research and Development Center of the **Ministry of Science and Technology, with the group company acting as the host. Attendees included Director Chen Shuoyi from the special project office, Professor Zhang Zhongxiao and Professor Wang Fuchen, as well as Researcher Ye Mao – experts in project tracking for the **Ministry of Science and Technology; Academician Jin Yong, Zhang Jiyao, Shi Shidong, Zhou Anning and other members of the project expert committee; plus the heads of various research topics involved in the project and representatives from the participating organizations, totaling over 60 people. At the presentation meeting, Hu Guangfa, the group’s chief engineer and project leader, first presented appointment letters to the 5 members of the project expert committee and signed confidentiality agreements with the leaders of the 5 research tasks. He then delivered a report on the implementation plan for this project, providing detailed explanations on various aspects such as an overview of the project, the breakdown of task objectives and testing methods, the schedule and key milestones, organizational management, an outline of the funding requirements, and the progress of research. The project leaders also presented reports on the implementation plans for their respective projects. After listening to the presentations on the projects and research topics, the experts present held in-depth discussions and gave their feedback. They agreed unanimously that the implementation plan for this project met the requirements for approval, and they suggested further focusing on the key scientific and technical issues to highlight the technological advancements. Next, the project team will further optimize and implement the implementation plan in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Throughout the project’s execution, it will strengthen communication among the various research topics and among the expert group, coordinate internal project management, and actively promote the orderly progress of the research work.
