On November 2, 2018, Southeast University, the leading institution for the project \"Chemical Chain Combustion and Gasification of Coal\" under the key initiative \"Clean and Efficient Utilization of Coal and New Energy-Saving Technologies\", together with the Nanjing Office in charge of managing key initiatives at the High-Tech Center, jointly held a project kickoff meeting and a session to review the implementation plan. This project focuses on coal chemical chain combustion and gasification technologies, studying the reaction properties of oxygen carriers under pressure with coal. It aims to develop oxygen carriers suitable for industrial use as well as techniques for their large-scale production, and to establish a 3MWth pilot plant for coal chemical chain combustion and a 1MWth pilot plant for coal chemical chain gasification. The project leader presented the project implementation plan from aspects such as the project’s research objectives, main research tasks, key implementation milestones and specific plans, organizational management mechanisms, as well as the forms of outcomes and evaluation methods. The experts present listened carefully to the report on the implementation plan and held thorough discussions with the project team. At the project execution level, they clarified the relationships between projects, sub-projects, and individual tasks, as well as the connections between the key research outcomes of the project and the overall project progress. They offered suggestions and recommendations regarding aspects such as the matching of chemical chain reactors, the cycling characteristics of oxygen carriers, the separation of oxygen carriers from coal ash particles, and the adaptability of different coal types. Additionally, they advised the project team to strengthen the research on technical risks associated with translating research findings into pilot-scale applications.
