Stove head temperature and row temperature

When calculating the horizontal temperature coefficient, the two burners at the furnace head are not included. Does this refer to 1 burner on each side of the machine furnace, or 2 burners on each side? For example, if a combustion chamber has 36 vertical flues, are the flues to be considered for evaluation 2 to 35 (34 flues), or 3 to 34 (32 flues)?
