This year, there have been problems with the control separator for crude benzene in my plant; a large amount of water often leaks out, causing the vent tank to overflow. This situation doesn’t last very long. I would like to ask the experienced colleagues what could be the cause
You mean the oil-water separator, right?
It’s not an oil-water separator; it’s a control separator. It’s normal for the water separated from the oil-water separator to flow into the control separator
The drain pipe on the sight glass at the water outlet of the control separator was blocked, resulting in a siphon effect that caused the water in the control separator to be emptied.
I’ve experienced it; it’s probably caused by siphoning
Is it because the drain pipe for the water in the separator is too thin, and has the amount of steam used in the benzene removal tower changed, resulting in an increase in condensate water and thus a siphoning effect?
