I recently took charge of managing a coke oven, 4.3 meters in size, with 9 years of service; the metal components have not been maintained for 4-5 years. I adjusted the spring after taking over. Several curvature measurements were less than 5 mm, and 2 had a curvature of 1 mm. What’s the reason?
A low degree of curvature is a good thing. Attention should be paid to the furnace length; the furnace columns serve to apply a protective pressure on the coke oven, with the aim of preventing it from expanding and contracting freely. The increase in furnace length is a very important indicator, and the health status of the coke oven is assessed based on this increase. If it increases by half a meter (4.3), the oven is considered to be beyond use
Tamping or top-loading? What is the average? A furnace that has been in use for 9 years with a top-mounted design generally wouldn’t be this small. 1. Check whether the 6 wires used to measure curvature are at equal distances from the front line of the coke oven; the lower wires often deviate. 2. Verify that all the large springs have sufficient strength, and that none of them are damaged or severely burned. 3. Check whether the expansion amount of the furnace length is normal. 4. Inspect the corresponding small springs to ensure there are no issues with them. 5. Check again the verticality of the furnace column
I’m wondering why the curvature of the furnace is negative and quite large, reaching as low as -15. I’ve had it checked again, and the measurement results show no issues with oil levels
