Current environmental regulations require dehydration of the slag from Texaco’s gasifiers. Do anyone have any good methods? What technologies are used in various factories, and what are their advantages and disadvantages? Feel free to give your advice; thank you all!

I heard that in Nanjing’s Jinling area, there is a treatment system capable of reducing the level to around 30%. The fine sludge is processed using a plate and frame filter press, which allows the moisture content to be reduced to 40–35%; this is better than using vacuum methods. This seems to be the trend going forward. The coarse sludge is handled with vibrating screens – equipment of this type is generally available from manufacturers of sludge removal systems – but such devices suffer from high wear and tear. It depends on each company to decide how to deal with the moisture content in the coarse sludge
On October 23, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation organized industry experts to conduct on-site calibration of China’s first complete set of demonstration equipment for the dewatering and drying of liquid-containing waste solids in the coal chemical industry. Based on the evaluation of its performance in actual operation and the analysis of the calibration data, experts unanimously agreed that the device operates stably and reliably, with advanced technical specifications. This demonstration unit utilizes an integrated dehydration and drying technology suite jointly developed by Ningxia Shenyao Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Fujie Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. At present, for both dry coal powder gasification technology and coal slurry gasification technology, vacuum belt filtration units are used in the gasification black water treatment units; the moisture content of the treated waste solids is around 50% ; The integrated dehydration and drying technology combines functions such as filtration, pressure filtration, and heating under vacuum to reduce the moisture content of liquid-containing waste solids to 20-30%, which is 15-20% lower than that achieved by belt filters. The integrated dehydration and drying technology effectively solves the problem of dehydration and drying of liquid-containing waste solids in industrial facilities ; It also saves filter cloth washing water (20t/h), **reducing the water consumption of the facility ; It can reduce water and electricity consumption by 50% compared to belt filters, enabling green and environmentally friendly production in the coal chemical industry. After a 4-day calibration of the project, the expert group unanimously agreed that the device operated stably during the calibration period, with accurate measurement and analytical testing, meeting the calibration requirements. Based on the data collected on-site and the calculation results, the \"Calibration Report for the Complete Set of Demonstration Equipment for Dewatering and Drying Liquid-Wet Waste in the Coal Chemical Industry\" was ultimately prepared. The report states that \"calibration tests were carried out at an average load of 100%; the amount of material fed per batch was 17.2 tons, with a moisture content of 81.94% in the feed, and the moisture content of the output material was 29.03%. The calibration results are accurate and valid, the equipment operates stably and reliably, and its performance indicators are better than those specified in the design.\" The calibration approval of this demonstration unit marks a significant step forward for Shenyao Technology Company in the field of chemical new materials – as it moves from targeting the mid-range market to aiming at the high-end market, with the goal of developing premium, sophisticated, and cutting-edge products.
With some technical improvements or more careful operation, the vibrating screen can still be brought under control. I’m not sure what the level of automation is for plate and frame filters these days?
Shenyao’s technology looks promising, but stable operation over a long period would be even better.
There are fully automatic plate and frame systems; it’s no longer a purely manual process – inspection is sufficient. It works much better than vacuum systems, and the working conditions on site have improved significantly
