I’ve recently come across a project designed by MCC Coking Resistance Engineering, involving 3 million tons of coking capacity. Could anyone with experience provide some guidance regarding the overall cost estimate, list of equipment, and process flow for this project?
This one is quite large; we’re not quite sure. The purification system could definitely be involved in this:)

A figure of 3 million tons alone is not specific enough; it’s unclear what type of furnace it is – whether it’s 6.25 or 6.78, or whether it’s a top-loading type. The cost varies depending on these factors, and other aspects such as the chosen manufacturing processes also have an impact
This involves quite a lot of things. Generally, it is divided into two main categories: coke ovens, and gas purification and comprehensive utilization. Within the scope of gas purification, it is further divided into various units such as cold drums, ammonium sulfide production, and benzene elution. With a coking capacity of 3 million tons, the purified gas produced can be used to manufacture various products such as methanol and LNG. So it’s hard to say specifically if the process is not clear.
3 million tons of coking – for this project, it is necessary to go through project approval, authorization, process design, civil construction, and then commissioning. Not every step was smooth. You’re asking about the budget for the entire project; this requires hiring a professional engineering design company to carry out the design work for you.
The total estimated cost is close to 3.6 billion. Based on the coking projects that have been completed so far, the costs for civil engineering works, coke ovens with dry and wet quenching systems, waste heat recovery, desulfurization and denitrification processes, as well as various auxiliary facilities such as sulfur handling systems, coal storage areas or sheds, coke storage tanks, LNG facilities, and advanced hydroprocessing units are to be calculated separately
