Generally, wet flue gas desulfurization is carried out after blast condensation and before ammonia removal. Based on past experience, the widespread use of high-pressure ammonia-based smokeless coal charging has led to an increase in coal dust carried in the gas. Although most of the tar and coal dust is removed through spraying in the primary cooler, electrostatic tar collectors, ionization, and the use of blowers, some tar and coal dust still enter the desulfurization system along with the gas. This is the main reason why molten sulfur turns black; of course, there may be other reasons as well.
I personally think it is still the effect of tar. On one hand, the electrostatic tar collector should be cleaned; if there is a pre-cooling tower, the remaining ammonia water after oil removal can be used for spraying
