In the flue gas desulfurization and emission control project that our factory has recently implemented, the desulfurization tower uses a dry spray desulfurization method. The contractor claims that the desulfurization efficiency can reach 95% – is this really possible? For plants that have implemented desulfurization and flue gas emission control projects, are their desulfurization towers also equipped with the dry spray method? Can efficiency be achieved?
I heard that after the flue gas desulfurization and denitrification processes at Baosteel’s Zhanjiang coking plant, the sulfur dioxide level in the flue gas has dropped to single digits. Does anyone know if this is true?
There isn’t one that high; the wet method will work
It is achievable; we use a semi-dry desulfurization method, and the sulfur dioxide level at the outlet can be reduced to single digits. With high-volume spraying, it’s even possible to bring it down to zero. Which factory do you work for? Not many coking plants are currently undertaking flue gas desulfurization and denitration projects, as the investment required is high

The dry method, which does not use water, has low efficiency; catalysts are required, which increases costs. The wet method operates at too low a temperature, making it impossible to achieve thermal standby of the chimney. The semi-dry method is somewhat better
