In the pulverized coal gasification process, the stem of the discharge valve between the pulverized coal lockhopper and the pulverized coal feed tank breaks, preventing the valve from opening; the lockhopper is filled with coal. How should this situation be handled? Removing the valve will cause a large amount of pulverized coal to leak from the pulverized coal hopper; without removing the valve, repair is not possible. What are some good ways to minimize safety risks and losses in such a situation?
In this case, a dual-valve system should be used for feeding; if a single valve is used, the cylinder will have to be removed and tools employed to force it open. Moreover, control via a single valve cannot ensure production safety, so such action can only be carried out with the manager’s approval; otherwise, the machine must be stopped. If it is the lower valve, there is no need to worry about coal powder leaking; simply remove the cylinder and force it open in the same way. Single-valve control is risky. In our company, this problem is usually caused by a broken rod inside the cylinder; the valve can be modified so that the rod is used to close the valve while the push rod is used to open it. It's just my personal opinion; please don’t criticize if you disagree – let’s communicate!
It also depends on where the valve stem is broken; if it’s inside the valve chamber, that’s quite troublesome – one will need to disassemble the cylinder and weld the valve stem. What I mentioned above is that the tie rod and push rod inside the cylinder are broken
