Under normal operation, the water supplied to the quench ring is the black water that is recycled within the system; it is pumped from the scrubber tower via pump P-1305 into the quench ring. The flow rate is 218 M3/h, the temperature is 247°C, and the pressure is 7.5 MPa. The water within the system is recycled; supplementary water is deoxygenated soft water. The use of deoxygenated soft water serves to prevent pipe corrosion and scaling.
