The remaining ammonia water in our company’s ammonia vaporization system suddenly turned red (jujube red); we’re not sure what caused this. At that time, only a type of gas coal named \"Zichang\" was used; after adding this coal, the pressure drop in the HPF desulfurization tower increased by nearly 2000 Pa, and the desulfurization liquid turned slightly darker (but no obvious sulfur foam appeared). During the later stage of sulfur discharge from the sulfur melting tank, a large amount of black foam appears; after cooling, it resembles coal slag (when sulfuric acid is added, a large amount of foam is generated). The color of the residual ammonia water in the ammonia vaporization system turned jujube red, and the ammonia vaporization wastewater was also jujube red. Have you all encountered such a situation before? Why does it turn red? Has the phenol content in the remaining ammonia solution increased significantly?
The reddening of the residual ammonia water in the coking plant may be caused by the oxidation or chemical reactions of substances contained within it. Jujube red may be caused by the presence of iron ions or other metal ions. It is recommended that you conduct laboratory tests to determine whether there are impurities such as metal ions in the remaining ammonia solution, so that appropriate treatment measures can be taken. At the same time, attention must be paid to the storage and treatment of residual ammonia water to prevent environmental pollution. .
