Total investment of 326 million yuan! Launch of Zaiwei New Materials’ 98,000-ton special carbon black project in Yumen, Gansu

According to Jiaohua Frontline, Zaiwei New Materials Technology (Gansu) Co., Ltd. plans to build a new special carbon black production facility with an annual capacity of 98,000 tons (phases I and II). The construction site is located within the premises of Yumen Huashida Energy Co., Ltd. in the Yumen Dong Building Materials and Chemical Industry Park in Yumen City. On July 29, bidding was launched for the construction of the external pipe gallery for the project, as well as for the installation of pipelines for coke oven gas, carbon black exhaust gases, and steam. According to the approval issued by the Jiuquan City Ecology and Environment Bureau on December 16, 2024, regarding the environmental impact assessment report for Zaiwei New Materials Technology (Gansu) Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 98,000 tons per year of special carbon black (Phases I and II), the total investment for these two phases is 326,157,900 yuan. Of this amount, 4,110,000 yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 1.26% of the total investment. Specifically, 3,060,000 yuan was invested in environmental protection measures for Phase I, while 1,050,000 yuan was invested for Phase II. According to the Carbon Black Industry Network, the project uses coke oven gas from the industrial park, natural gas, and the recycled exhaust gases generated by the project itself as fuel, while purchasing ethylene tar, anthracene oil, and washed oil as raw materials for the production of specialty carbon black. The project is planned to be carried out in two phases, with 4 special carbon black production lines and 1 technology center to be built. The main components of the project include the pigment carbon black production area and the conductive carbon black production area. In the first phase, a production line for high-pigment specialty carbon black with an annual capacity of 3,000 tons and another production line for specialty carbon black with an annual capacity of 15,000 tons will be built, along with 4 process oil tanks of 500 m³ each, 1 oil storage tank of 3,000 m³, carbon black storage facilities, a power distribution room, an air compression station, an accident water tank, sewage treatment equipment, a circulating water system, a control room, a laboratory, a fire station, a temporary storage area for hazardous waste, a warehouse for spare parts, and various auxiliary facilities; in addition, necessary roads and landscaping will also be constructed. In the second phase, two production lines for superconducting specialty carbon black with an annual capacity of 15,000 tons each will be built, along with 4 process oil tanks of 500 m³ each, 3 oil storage tanks of 3,000 m² each, weighing scales, a production building, a cafeteria, carbon black storage facilities, a comprehensive office building, as well as additional auxiliary roads and landscaping.
