On April 7, the People’s Government of Gu County issued a draft for public comments on the environmental impact assessment for the second phase of the technology upgrade project for Shanxi Hongyuan New Energy Co., Ltd., which involves an annual production capacity of 720,000 tons using coke ovens with a carbonization chamber height of 6.25 meters. The relevant details are as follows: I. Project Overview Project Name: Technology upgrade project for Shanxi Hongyuan New Energy Co., Ltd., aiming at an annual production capacity of 720,000 tons using coke ovens with a carbonization chamber height of 6.25 meters (Phase II). Location: Jianhe Chemical Industrial Park, Gu County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province. Nature of the project: Technical upgrade. Existing facilities: The first phase of the project utilized 6.25-meter-high 3×65-hole 6253D type coke ovens, along with supporting systems such as coal preparation equipment, dry quenching equipment, chemical product recovery systems, as well as facilities for flue gas desulfurization and denitrification and advanced wastewater treatment systems. This setup enabled an annual coke production capacity of 2.16 million tons. Construction contents: Add a coking-related washing and sorting workshop with a processing capacity of 1.8 million tons per year ； New coal storage and distribution facilities ； Add 1×65-hole 6.25m 6253D type ramming coke oven ； New gas purification units such as primary coolers, desulfurization towers, regeneration towers, and saturators have been added ； New ammonium sulfate production unit from desulfurization waste liquid ； Renovate and expand the existing biological wastewater treatment units ； A new set of environmental protection facilities, such as a reclaimed water reuse system, will be installed. Coke quenching, coke screening, the tank farm, waste gas treatment, and the water supply system all rely on the facilities already built in Phase 1. Project site: Construction will be carried out using the land reserved within the factory complex and the newly planned industrial land in the park.
