The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone should talk about safety and be able to handle emergencies; identify and address potential risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- In March 2026, the Shandong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued a decision regarding the environmental impact assessment report for Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project for replacing ammonia synthesis capacity with urea production capacity. The capacity replacement project uses coal as raw material to build a new water-coal slurry gasification unit with a capacity of 85,000 m3/h (1 multi-nozzle gasifier), a liquid nitrogen washing unit, and an ammonia synthesis unit (with an annual ammonia production capacity of 550,000 tons) ； A new urea production facility will be built (with an annual output of 750,000 tons of urea, of which 350,000 tons will be in small to medium particle size and 400,000 tons in large particle size), along with supporting facilities for environmental protection, safety, and utility services. The project relies on the existing coal slurry preparation system, the CO conversion unit of the ongoing \"Gasification Platform Upgrade Project\" (one additional second converter is added in this project), the low-temperature methanol washing unit, the sulfur recovery unit, as well as the existing wastewater treatment facilities. This project will involve an additional annual consumption of 420,000 tons of raw coal, with a gas production volume of 643 million m3 per year. The total gas consumption for the project is 1.119 billion m3 per year; an additional 476 million m3 per year will be met through resources allocated from the existing \"Energy-saving Retrofit Project for the Acetic Acid Plant\". This project reduces methanol production by purchasing methanol externally, while the acetic acid production capacity remains unchanged. The carbon dioxide used as raw material in the ammonia synthesis process of this project comes from the low-temperature methanol washing unit of the existing \"New Process for Energy-Saving Acetic Acid Production Project\". The total investment for the project is 2,024.7 million yuan. Based on previous information, Shandong Hualu Hengsheng makes use of the 550,000-ton synthetic ammonia and 750,000-ton urea production capacity that were shut down by Yangmei Pingyuan Chemical Co., Ltd.
