We are a company that produces methanol from coke oven gas. Due to the high level of impurities in the coke oven gas, the oil and water discharged by the coke press contain large amounts of substances such as tar and naphthalene. At present, air flotation is used for treating this oil and water, but the treatment effect is not good; the oil cannot be recovered, the water does not meet the required standards, and a large amount of sludge is generated. The COD level of the incoming water is 10,000–30,000 mg/m3, and it is required that the COD level of the outgoing water be below 2,000. Does anyone have any good solutions?
Check the pH value of the water; if it is high, some anions in the water may act as surfactants, having a serious impact on oil removal using the air flotation method. Appropriately lowering the pH value of water can help with oil removal.
Naphthalene is quite troublesome; my pipes get clogged frequently here as well
Manufacturers that offer solutions for this issue can be referred to; they can also be found online. We deal with phenol removal only, and we do not handle naphthalene compounds.

Our pH level is between 7 and 9, which is the target set by oil recovery manufacturers during design; the pH of the raw water is 6, and alkali is added specifically to adjust it. Do you mean without alkali?
