What impurities are present in methanol produced from coal? What could the sulfides in methanol be? What is the general range in which the content should be kept? Thank you for the guidance; I’ll learn from it.

Why are they starting with methanol again? The MTP plant for producing propylene from methanol that I have has been left idle ever since it was built.

Methanol synthesis catalysts are sensitive to sulfur; the sulfur content in imported materials must be strictly controlled to below 0.1PPM, which is why methanol generally contains no sulfides at all
There are many impurities, but sulfides are hard to find. . . . Sulfides are absorbed by the methanol catalyst, so they should not be detectable in methanol.
Well, there’s one thing I’m not sure about – recently I had the methanol tested in a laboratory, and the test didn’t pass; I wonder if it has something to do with the sulfur content.
During the methanol reaction process, sulfur in the process gas exists in the form of hydrogen sulfide and carbon disulfide, with levels generally kept below 0.01 ppm
