How is the amount of air released during methanol synthesis calculated? Can a nitrogen balance be used with nitrogen that does not participate in the reaction?
It can be calculated that way; inert gases do not accumulate.
From the perspective of material balance, there is no problem
An approximate amount can be estimated using this method, but the difference can be significant depending on the nature of the fresh gas and the selectivity of the catalyst.
