The purification P4 (methanol lean liquid pump) has tripped – what is the impact on the system? How do the front and back systems operate?
If the standby pump can be started in a short time, it should have little impact; if it cannot be started, then switching to synthetic gas is the only option
The system immediately triggers an emergency shutdown
Maintain a stable liquid level to prevent pressure crossover; monitor the online sulfur content, and cut off the gas supply as soon as any upward trend is detected
Check the hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide levels in the purified gas, as well as the temperature of the scrubber tower; if it can’t be controlled, then cut off the gas supply
If the backup pump can start immediately after the main pump fails, it will not have a significant impact on the system; if it cannot start, then it means a shutdown due to low-temperature methanol washing, and not a shutdown related to synthesis. After the pump fails, it becomes impossible to establish a circulation, and an emergency shutdown is the only option.
