I’m consulting the experts here: in many operating procedures, it is specified that the water temperature must not exceed 50°C during combined water and steam operation, in order to prevent the cooling materials from melting. The polyurethane material currently in use should be able to withstand temperatures up to 80°C, diene-based rubber and plastics can tolerate 175°C, and foam glass does not have such a temperature limit. Can this item be removed now that the materials have changed? What is the theoretical basis for this indicator?
Heat retention is one aspect; low-temperature equipment and pumps also need to be taken into consideration. If the temperature inside the pipes reaches 50 degrees or higher, then the temperature at the pumps will be even higher. Since what was originally a low-temperature liquid has now become a high-temperature one, the pump’s mechanical seals and other sealing components are likely to be affected.
The initial requirement for low-temperature methanol washing units was 50°C, and the reason for this was to prevent the insulation materials from failing under such temperatures. Considering the heat resistance of polyurethane, 80°C would be a more accurate value, allowing for some margin.

Another point is to check whether the pump’s net positive suction head is sufficient. During water circulation, the system pressure is relatively low; if the water temperature is high, the pump is prone to cavitation.
