Why develop hydrogen production from methanol? It takes a lot of effort to produce methanol from coal or oil through processes such as gasification, purification, synthesis, and distillation; and then hydrogen is produced from that methanol. Isn’t this result in higher energy consumption? Is it not a form of waste? In the methanol-to-hydrogen process, where does the carbon dioxide go? Does it add to the environmental burden?
