On March 19, Anhui’s first methanol refueling station, the Anhui Petroleum Ma’anshan Juhua Energy Station, was officially put into operation. The station has a daily methanol filling capacity of 40 tons, which is sufficient to meet the energy needs of 100 heavy trucks. It can replace over 5,000 tons of diesel per year, thereby reducing carbon emissions by more than 10,000 tons. The commissioning of this station represents an important milestone for Anhui Petroleum in advancing the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, achieving a balance between environmental protection and economic benefits, and building a \"hydrogen ecosystem\". As a carrier for liquid hydrogen, methanol offers advantages such as convenient storage and transportation, low cost, and reduced carbon emissions, making it an ideal alternative as a clean fuel for commercial vehicles such as heavy trucks. To accelerate transformation and upgrading, this station, building on its traditional gasoline and diesel services, has undergone modular upgrades by installing a dedicated dual-nozzle methanol filler machine as well as additional specialized facilities. This setup allows for separate processing of gasoline and methanol, ensuring better safety and environmental protection, while also reducing operating costs significantly compared to traditional operation methods. Located at a national highway intersection and adjacent to a 5A-level tourist attraction, this station can help address the challenges related to energy supply for long-distance freight transportation. It contributes to the creation of a green energy ecosystem characterized by multiple energy sources working together for comprehensive coverage, thereby providing new impetus for achieving the region’s ‘dual carbon’ goals.
