This green methanol project has reached a major milestone!

China’s first batch of green methanol produced in Shanghai is ready to be deployed! In line with the work plans set by the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Government, the Shanghai 100,000-ton capacity green methanol project, which is being developed through collaboration among four municipal state-owned enterprises – Shenneng Group, Chengtou Group, Hua Yi Group, and Shanghai Port Group – has reached an important milestone. The project has obtained dual certification for the entire process, including raw material supply, methanol production, as well as trade, storage, transportation, and refueling, under the ISCC EU and PLUS standards. Its average carbon emission intensity is over 80% lower than that of methanol produced from fossil fuels, at 94 gCO2eq/MJ. This makes it possible to meet the fueling needs of international ships at Shanghai Port, thereby contributing significantly to the development of Shanghai as an international shipping hub.
