Preface: Currently, the purification of sulfur-containing transformed gases resulting from coal gasification is generally carried out using the low-temperature methanol washing process. The proprietary technologies involved include those developed by Linde, Lurgi, and Dalian University of Technology; each has its own advantages, but the basic principle remains the same: methanol that has absorbed carbon dioxide is used to remove sulfur (hydrogen sulfide) from the process gas, as well as for the regeneration of methanol containing carbon dioxide and methanol containing both carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. The current low-temperature methanol washing processes used by Linde, Luchi, and Dalian University of Technology all share common drawbacks: they are designed to handle process gases with a carbon dioxide content of 20–45% and a hydrogen sulfide content of 0.05–2%. Methanol is used not only to remove hydrogen sulfide but also to remove carbon dioxide, which results in high consumption of methanol and increased energy costs for fluid transportation. ——Editing.
