Recently, the commissioning meeting for the air separation unit of Tianjin Saihong Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 100,000 tons per year of green biomass methanol, a project that is under the general contracting of China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Tiantian, was held. This marks the entry of the technical preparation and implementation phases of this green chemical project into a substantive collaborative stage. This project is Tianjin’s first green methanol project; it will involve the cultivation of 60,000 mu of phragmites in the tidal flats and saline-alkali lands surrounding Tianjin. A new production line will be built on the company’s own land, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of green methanol. This methanol can be used as a fuel for vehicles and ships, or it can be converted into new chemical materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene. The entire project process employs resource-based disposal methods: the by-product fly ash is used to produce organic fertilizer, wastewater is recycled, and green CO2 is converted into dry ice. This approach enables a reduction of 288,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, holding significant strategic importance for promoting the green transformation of the regional petrochemical industry.
