Recently, the environmental impact assessment report for the Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Upgrade Demonstration Project was made public, and Yaha Consulting has extracted the key information regarding this project for you. This project uses coal as raw material; it first produces 2 million tons per year of methanol through gasification units, low-temperature methanol washing units, and methanol synthesis units. Subsequently, low-carbon olefins such as propylene and ethylene are produced using SHMTO technology. Propylene and ethylene are then used in dipolymerization units to produce polypropylene and polyethylene products. The C4 and higher hydrocarbon components produced by this project, along with those from existing facilities that are C5 and higher in nature, are processed through the project’s MTBE/butene-1 and C4/C5+ comprehensive utilization units to yield MTBE products, propylene-rich gas, as well as C4-C6 and C6+ by-products.
