The kick-off meeting for the isothermal shift process in the first phase of the project to produce 1.2 million tons of ethylene glycol per year in Lujiang, Anhui, was held. Author/Source: Sinochem News Network; Date: 2020-03-11; Clicks: 46. On March 5, Yingde Gas, Baosteel Gas, Anhui Baolu Industrial Gas Co., Ltd., Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company, and the patent holder Nanjing Dunxian Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. jointly held an online meeting to launch this project. During the meeting, unified requirements were set regarding the relevant process technologies, design foundations, patented equipment, layout plans, operational conditions, as well as the schedule for delivering related documents. The shift unit of this project, which has an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of ethylene glycol and requires syngas, utilizes the advanced isothermal shift technology developed by Nanjing Dunxian Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. This technology has been successfully applied in large-scale facilities such as Air Products’ 1-million-ton ethylene glycol plant in the United States, Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40-million-ton integrated refining and chemical processing plant, Ningxia Baofeng’s 2.2-million-ton methanol plant, Inner Mongolia Yitai’s 2-million-ton coal-to-oil plant, Shaanxi Yulin Energy’s 400,000-ton ethylene glycol plant, and Shandong Hualu Hengsheng’s 1-million-ton alcohol-ammonia co-production plant. It offers advantages such as lower investment costs, simpler operation, and reduced energy consumption, thereby providing a technical foundation for the successful implementation of the shift unit in this ethylene glycol project. It is reported that Zhejiang Tongkun Group and Shanghai Baosteel Gas invested in a project to produce 1.2 million tons of coal-based ethylene glycol per year in Lujiang; the agreement for this project was signed in Hefei on April 7, 2018, and in March 2019, it was successfully approved by the Hefei Development and Reform Commission of Anhui Province. On October 18, 2019, the cooperation agreement regarding the synthesis gas supply for a project to produce 1.2 million tons of ethylene glycol per year between Zhejiang Tongkun Holding Group and Shanghai Baosteel Gas Company, as well as the steam supply agreement between Anhui Youshun New Materials Co., Ltd. and Shenwan Hefei Lujiang Power Generation Co., Ltd., were signed at the headquarters of Tongkun Group in Tongxiang, Zhejiang. The successful signing of these two agreements marks the full commencement of the Lujiang project for the annual production of 1.2 million tons of ethylene glycol along with the associated syngas production, and it also signifies that the Longqiao Chemical Industrial Park has entered a new phase of development. On December 5, 2019, the groundbreaking ceremony for a project capable of producing 1.2 million tons of ethylene glycol per year, along with the necessary synthesis gas, was held in the Longqiao Industrial Park in Lujiang. This project was jointly funded by Zhejiang Tongkun Holding Group and Shanghai Baosteel Gas Co., Ltd. This marks the establishment of the project in the Longqiao Industrial Park in Lujiang. Zhejiang Tongkun Group and Shanghai Baosteel Gas will set up new companies in Lujiang to jointly build a project with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of coal-based ethylene glycol. Shanghai Baosteel Gas will use coal as raw material to produce syngas, which will then be used by Zhejiang Tongkun Holding Group to manufacture ethylene glycol products. The total investment in the project is approximately 11.4 billion yuan; once it is completed and operational, it will generate annual sales revenue of 13 billion yuan. It is reported that the investment for Phase 1 of this project amounts to 5.5 billion yuan, of which Baosteel Gas will invest 2.5 billion yuan to build a facility capable of producing 1.5 billion cubic meters of coal-based syngas per year ; Zhejiang Tongkun Group has invested 3 billion yuan to build a plant capable of producing 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year from syngas. Once the first phase of the project is completed and operational, Baosteel Gas and Tongkun Group will invest another 5.5 billion yuan to build new facilities capable of producing 1.5 billion cubic meters of syngas per year and 600,000 tons per year of coal-based ethylene glycol.
