Ceremony held for the commencement of Xinjiang Zhiben’s natural gas refining chemicals project Author/Source: Date: 2018-10-24 Clicks: 40 On October 18, the ceremony marking the start of construction for Xinjiang Zhiben Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol from natural gas, a project for which Donghua Engineering Technology Company was responsible for the preliminary consulting and engineering design, was held in Kuqa County, Xinjiang. Cui Congquan, the company’s deputy Party secretary and general manager, along with five other members of his team, attended the ceremony. The total investment for the refined chemicals project in Kuche County is 21.5 billion yuan, with construction carried out in three phases; the investment for the first phase, which involves an ethylene glycol production capacity of 400,000 tons per year, is approximately 4 billion yuan. Upon completion of the first phase of the project, the annual total tax revenue is expected to be around 1.07 billion yuan, of which 210 million yuan will go as income tax and 270 million yuan as value-added tax and related taxes. The project will create more than 600 long-term employment opportunities, thereby significantly improving the living standards of the residents in Kuqa County. Leveraging the advantages of Kuqa County’s mineral and oil & gas natural resources, the project adopts the non-catalytic partial oxidation technology from East China University of Science and Technology, the ethylene glycol production unit using dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation catalysts from Japanese company UBE, as well as the CTEG technology developed jointly by Gaochemical and Donghua Technology. It features a long catalyst lifespan, high conversion and selectivity, low raw material consumption, and safe and stable operation. The investment in this project has received strong support from the local authorities. Liang Fengyuan, a member of the Aksu Regional Party Committee and executive deputy commissioner of the regional administration, said at the groundbreaking ceremony that Kuqa County would do its utmost to provide the highest quality, most convenient, and most effective services for the project’s development, striving to have it completed and put into operation as soon as possible so as to realize its economic and social benefits. The company will provide full support for the commencement of the project, offering high-quality design assurance through a competent team.
