The signing ceremony for the project to produce 1.2 million tons of coal-based ethylene glycol per year by Shanghai Wu Zheng Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. was held. On August 12, the signing ceremony for this project was held between Shanghai Wu Zheng Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. and the local government of Hezhang County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. The project is implemented in two phases. The first phase involves a 400,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production facility, with a total investment of 5 billion yuan and a construction period of 26 months. On one hand, this allows for full utilization of the abundant coal resources at the Xiping Coal Mine; on the other hand, it makes use of the world-leading medium-high pressure carbonylation process for the production of ethylene glycol from syngas, enabling a 50% reduction in energy consumption and thus significantly lowering the production costs of ethylene glycol.
