Yanchang Petroleum’s Coal Chemical Technology Leads Internationally – Author/Source: Sinochem News Network; Date: 2019-08-27; Clicks: 12. The KSY and CCSI oxygen gasification technologies were approved after evaluation. From August 21st to 22nd, the two-stream fluidized-bed ultra-large-scale pulverized coal gasification (KSY) technology and the integrated pulverized coal pyrolysis-gasification (CCSI) oxygen gasification technology, developed by the Hydrocarbon Efficient Utilization Technology Research Center of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group, underwent technical evaluation in Xi’an organized by the Shaanxi Chemical Industry Society. Experts believe that both of these technological achievements are originally innovative and are at the international leading level, recommending that their industrial application be accelerated. Li Dapeng, a leading coal chemical expert at Yanchang Petroleum, explained that building on the TRIG transport-bed gasification technology, this center, in collaboration with KBR, led the development of a super-large dual-fluidized-bed powder coal gasification system. This system expands the range of applicable raw materials to include lignite, long-flame coal, bituminous coal, anthracite, as well as low-quality coals with high ash, sulfur, and calorific value content. The processing capacity of each gasifier unit is 5,000 tons per day, making it the largest gasifier in the world capable of handling medium- to high-grade coals. It offers advantages such as ultra-large scale, high conversion efficiency, low costs, and reduced water consumption, and will contribute to the advancement of large-scale coal gasification technology in China. The expert group, headed by Men Cungui, former chief engineer of the China National Petroleum Refining and Chemical Industry Corporation, believes that the KSY technology has successfully developed a tandem reaction system using the first and second reactors, thereby significantly improving gasification efficiency. It was for the first time that a fluidized-bed waste boiler technology was implemented in the pressurized coal gasification process. Additionally, an intelligent control system based on dual-circulation fluidized-bed gasification was developed, bringing the technology as a whole to an internationally leading level. It is reported that the Yanchang Petroleum Hydrocarbon Center has established an industrial test facility for dual-fluidized-bed pulverized coal gasification technology with a capacity of 33,000 tons per year in Xingping, Shaanxi. Since October 2016, 9 system feeding tests have been conducted, more than 400 technical improvements have been made, 33 patents have been applied for, and 16 of them have been granted. The calibration results show that the gas yield is 2.12 standard cubic meters per kilogram, the content of effective syngas (CO+H2) is 78.17%, the calorific value of the gas is 2456.25 kcal per standard cubic meter, and the carbon conversion rate is 96.49%. Through experiments, the basic conditions for designing the KSY industrialization process package were established, providing a technical foundation for building a super-large-scale industrial demonstration plant. On-site calibration was completed in April this year. Meanwhile, the process package for the 5,000 tons/day industrialization plant has also been prepared. Building on the previously successful CCSI air gasification technology, the Yanchang Petroleum Hydrocarbon Center conducted an industrial-scale CCSI oxygen gasification test with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year. It optimized the technical parameters and control methods associated with CCSI technology, enabling continuous and stable operation and opening up new avenues for the chemical application of this technology. Industrial test results show that the tar yield is as high as 15.91%, the effective gas content is 74.74%, the carbon conversion rate is 94.27%, and the calorific value of the gas is 2262.56 kcal per standard cubic meter. 48 patents were applied for, and 36 were granted. Onward calibration was carried out in July this year, and preliminary design work has begun on the industrial demonstration facility in the Qingshui Industrial Park in Yulin.
