Are there any processes and catalysts available for directly synthesizing primary alcohols of C5 and higher using syngas? If anyone knows, please let me know! We urgently need the technological processes in this area! :)

C5 alcohols can be produced using the formylation carbonylation process, where syngas is just one of the raw materials; a C4 olefin is also required. The formylation reaction first produces C5 aldehydes, which are then converted into C5 alcohols through hydrogenation. Other higher carbon alcohols are similar; of course, condensation and hydrogenation processes can also be used, such as the condensation of C4 aldehydes to form C8 enaldehydes, which are then hydrogenated to yield octanol. You could look into the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences; this institute has a long history in carbonyl synthesis; You could also look into the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences; they are working on this area. For example, Professor Ding Yunjie is also engaged in the heterogeneous transformation of homogeneous catalysts. For catalysts in carbonylation synthesis, the best ones are the homogeneous organic phosphine rhodium catalysts produced by Union Carbon Company. When synthesizing high-carbon alcohols directly from syngas, the result is a mixture of alcohols, right?
