On November 15, the water commissioning for the low-temperature methanol washing unit as part of CMTC Tukue’s 1 million tons per year methanol capacity expansion project, which was carried out under EPC contracting by Saiding Company, was completed; on the 18th, the water commissioning for gas and water treatment, as well as phenol and ammonia recovery systems, was completed. The completion of these two key milestones signifies that the major bottleneck hindering the winter testing of the methanol technology upgrade project has been overcome, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent feeding and testing phases. ▲On November 12, 2020, the coal-lock gas compressor was ready for gas production. ▲ On November 15, 2020, the water integration test for the low-temperature methanol washing unit was completed. ▲ On November 17, 2020, the load test of the cycle compressor was successful on the first attempt. ▲ On November 18, 2020, the water integration test for gas, water, and phenol-ammonia recovery was completed. The second-phase construction project of China Coal Enerchemical Co., Ltd., which involves a technological upgrade to produce 1 million tons of methanol per year from syngas, is located in the Tuk Industrial Park in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. This project utilizes Zemach BGL fixed-bed slag gasification technology, purification technologies (low-temperature methanol washing + deep cryogenic methane separation), as well as advanced methanol synthesis techniques that feature low consumption and low energy usage, in order to build an facility capable of producing 1 million tons of MTO-grade methanol per year. The project commenced with groundbreaking on September 21, 2018. The Zhongmei Enechemical project, with an annual production capacity of 2 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 3.5 million tons of urea, was constructed in two phases. The first phase, which has an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.75 million tons of urea, included two 40,000 Nm3/h air separation units; these units were completed and put into operation in 2013. Meanwhile, some of the public facilities required for the second phase as well as all the office and living facilities have been built. Based on the current market conditions and operational status, Phase II of the project plans to shift from producing synthetic ammonia and urea to manufacturing 1 million tons of methanol, thereby supplying MTO-grade methanol raw materials to the olefin plants of China Coal Mengda Company.
