Kailuan Group accelerates the upgrading of its coal chemical industry chain! Attached is the latest progress of the projects. In line with the development trends in fine chemicals and new materials, Kailuan Group is progressively advancing six key coal chemical projects, thereby continuously extending its industrial chain and enhancing its value chain. The asphalt upgrading technical renovation project, with an investment of 133 million yuan and a capacity of 130,000 tons per year, has reached 95% completion in terms of physical progress; trial production is set to begin in June ; The project involves the construction of facilities with a production capacity of 4,000 tons/year of mesocarbon microbeads and 90,000 tons/year of modified pitch. The planned construction period is 14 months. This project involves the modification of bitumen, thereby further expanding the industrial chain. The project modifies the product portfolio from hard asphalt alone to one that allows for the production of modified asphalt, medium-temperature asphalt, and hard asphalt; meanwhile, some of the medium-temperature asphalt is used to produce mesophase carbon microspheres. The project focuses on current mature and reliable advanced processes and equipment both internationally and domestically, aiming to produce negative electrodes for power lithium batteries as well as high-quality asphalt, with the goal of reaching a level comparable to international advancements and leading the domestic market. The implementation of this project will drive the development of the domestic carbon microsphere industry. For the 40,000-ton/year naphthalene-based phthalic anhydride project, for which 195 million yuan has been invested, tenders have been issued for the general contractor and project supervision, and negotiations regarding the general contract are currently in progress ; The project will construct a new 40,000 tons/year mixed phthalic anhydride production facility. The phthalic anhydride production process employs a mixed feed of industrial naphthalene and o-xylene, along with the ’80 gram process’ fixed-bed gas-phase catalytic oxidation method. The main process equipment and supporting facilities include an oxidation reactor set, gas coolers, switching condensers, distillation towers, flake formers, air blower sets, exhaust gas incineration facilities, and tanks. Once the project is in full operation, it will produce 40,000 tons of phthalic anhydride per year, along with 112,500 tons of high-pressure steam as a by-product. The 40,000-ton/year nylon 66 project, for which 431 million yuan has been invested, is currently working on the preparation of energy-saving reports and environmental impact assessment reports; the preliminary design will be completed by the end of the year, after which construction will begin ; The expansion project for cyclohexanol production with a capacity of 20,000 tons per year, involving an investment of 47 million yuan, is currently in the process of equipment installation, with trial production scheduled to begin at the end of October ; The pre-project procedures are underway for the second phase of the polyoxymethylene production facility with an annual capacity of 60,000 tons and the second phase of the adipic acid production facility with an annual capacity of 180,000 tons; the total investment in these projects amounts to 4.574 billion yuan. Luanan Group has established five coal chemical industry parks in Jing Tang Port, Qian’an, Caofeidian, Chengde, and Inner Mongolia, along with 9 coal chemical subsidiaries and 1 research and development center for coal chemicals. This setup enables annual production of 6.6 million tons of coke, 600,000 tons of tar, 200,000 tons of methanol, 200,000 tons of refined crude benzene, 40,000 tons of polyoxymethylene, and 150,000 tons of adipic acid. A total of 66 types of chemical products are manufactured, giving the company the longest industrial chain among independent coal chemical enterprises in Hebei Province, as well as a leading level of circular economy practices in China.
