On February 22, the 300,000 tons per year coal tar hydrogenation project of Xinjiang Hami Hui’an Energy Co., Ltd., constructed by the Fourth Engineering Company of 11th Construction Group, started construction, thus officially marking the beginning of the project’s development. The project is located in the Erdaohu Industrial Park of Hongxing No.1 Plant, Yizhou District, Hami City, Xinjiang, and is being implemented by Xinjiang Daan Special Steel Co., Ltd. Phase 1 involves the construction of a facility for the hydrogenation of coal tar with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, as well as storage and transportation tanks and related utility systems. The total investment planned is 600 million yuan, with completion and operation expected by March 2023 ； Phase 2 plans to construct a tar naphthalene extraction project with an annual capacity of 15,000 tons and a needle coke project with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons.
