In mid-February, the Zhengyuan Hydrogen Energy Water Treatment Plant replaced the 162 membranes in Unit 2’s reverse osmosis system; as a result of this replacement, the water production capacity and conductivity of those reverse osmosis membranes decreased significantly. The 2# reverse osmosis membrane has been in operation since 2014, and nearly 8 years have passed; the conductivity of the water produced by it has been increasing gradually, reaching a maximum of 40 us/cm this winter. This situation significantly affects the operating cycle of the mixed-bed system and has a major impact on the production of desalinated water. Except for the 3# reverse osmosis unit, which was replaced in 2021, none of the other reverse osmosis membranes have been replaced. When there is a shortage of pure water, the mixed-bed system is regenerated frequently, which poses a serious threat to the stable supply of water for external use. After replacing the No. 2 reverse osmosis membrane, a stable supply of low-conductivity water at a rate of nearly 300 m3/h can be ensured, even when there is a restriction on pure water supply or even a complete interruption of it, thus providing an additional guarantee for the company’s stable production.
