On May 17, 2022, the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology announced the “List of Demonstration Projects for Industrial Green Development in 2022,” and the aforementioned carbon dioxide capture project made it onto that list. This time, the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology is organizing applications for demonstration projects on industrial green development across the province. The aim is to use these pilot projects as a model to promote the implementation of the \"Implementation Opinions on Fully and Accurately Implementing the New Development Concept and Earnestly Carrying Out Work Related to Reaching Carbon Peaks and Carbon Neutrality\" issued by the Central Committee and the State Council, as well as the \"Hebei Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan for Industrial Green Development.\" This initiative seeks to accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation of industry, establish benchmarks in key industries and sectors, and use these examples to drive green development in those industries. Through procedures such as on-site inspections by provincial and municipal industry and information technology departments, screening and submission, expert evaluations, and centralized discussions, a total of 20 projects were selected to serve as models for green industrial development and receive support. Specifically, the 7,500 tons per year carbon dioxide capture demonstration project for coke oven flue gas, in which China Coal Xuyang of Xuyang Group is involved, is one of the projects outlined in Xuyang Group’s Action Plan for Reaching Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality. It is also the first such project of its kind in China’s coking industry for capturing carbon dioxide from coke oven flue gas. This project represents a positive and effective approach to helping the entire coking industry implement strategies for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and it holds great significance as a model for others to follow. In recent years, especially with the introduction of the **\"dual carbon\" goals and the further implementation of various policies to support them, Xuyang Group has responded actively and taken innovative actions. It has continued to increase its investment in green and low-carbon development, as well as the efforts and targeted measures related to this area. The group was the first to establish a demonstration project for capturing 7,500 tons of carbon dioxide per year from the flue gases of coke ovens at China Coal Xuyang. In accordance with the \"Guidelines for Applying for Demonstration Projects on Green Industrial Development in Hebei Province 2022\", this project meets the application requirements and falls within the scope of projects intended to achieve carbon reduction. The project was completed and put into operation on March 10 this year. It employs a chemical absorption process for carbon dioxide capture and a cryogenic separation process for purification; it is capable of capturing 7,500 tons of carbon dioxide per year. The purified carbon dioxide can be used to produce biodegradable plastics, thus turning waste into a valuable resource. This not only helps to extend the industrial chain in Xingtai’s Xuyang Park and increase the added value of products, but also reduces the company’s expenses related to carbon emission taxes. It furthermore promotes carbon credit trading, offering significant environmental and economic benefits ； Meanwhile, Xuyang Group regards this project as an open platform for industry, academia, and research, continuously expanding its reserves of green energy technologies, stimulating innovation within the enterprise, raising the technological level of the industry, and fully leveraging its role in facilitating the transformation and upgrading of enterprises and industries. Currently, the development of China’s new energy industry is accelerating, and progress in the fields of carbon capture and hydrogen energy has also become one of the key topics. Taking the selection of China Coal Xuyang’s 7,500 tons per year carbon dioxide capture demonstration project for coke oven flue gas as a provincial-level model project for industrial green development, Xuyang Group will further advance the implementation of its \"Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Action Plan\" and \"Hydrogen Energy Development Plan\" across the entire group. By leveraging its advantages in the industrial chain, relying on technological innovation, and taking a proactive approach in industry development, the group will steadily push forward both carbon capture and utilization projects as well as hydrogen energy initiatives, in order to establish and continuously improve a green and low-carbon development model, thereby actively leading and promoting high-quality green development across the entire industry.
